Pizza Mac & Cheese

Yes, you read that right, Pizza Mac & Cheese…

My husband and I LOVE this recipe! I actually came about it when I had some leftover mac and cheese and wanted to change up the flavors a bit and I am sure glad I did! I basically turn the cheese sauce into mozzarella and mix yellow cheese sauce. I do the sauce like a bechamel sauce with the whisking of flour and butter then adding milk and the cheese. I also save some dry shredded cheese, a mix of both and add before making.

Recipe Below:

Servings: 6-8

Time cook: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 16oz of cavatelli pasta

  • 1 pack of pepperoni

  • 2 cups of mix cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 2 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • 3 tablespoons of pesto sauce

  • Italian infused olive oil to coat pan

  • 1 tablespoon of flour

  • 1 tablespoon of butter

  • About a cup to cup and a half of milk

  • Parsley to garnish

  • Parmesan to garnish

  • Oregano to Garnish

  • Fresh Basil leaves to garnish

Directions: First thing to start is to start cooking the pasta accordingly and work on the sauce. Put the flour and butter in a medium sauce pan and start to whisk. You want to keep whisking till the flour and butter turn to a nice golden color, and then you slowly start to add the milk. Once all the milk is added, bring to boil and let it simmer for a couple minutes. Then once the sauce has thicken start to slowly add the cheese, but only use 1 cup of each, save the rest to use while baking.

Once the pasta is cooked, dump the drained pasta in the sauce. Then dump the mac and cheese into your coated pan. Add in the pesto sauce and 1/2 of the remainder cheese mix, then put the rest of the cheese on top. Put basil leaves and pepperoni’s on top until mac & cheese is all coated. Then drizzle the olive oil and oregano.

Bake 350° F covered for 20 minutes and then turn to 400° F uncovered for 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
