Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
Let’s get cheesy with it.
Warning these will go quickly into your guest’s belly! I could definitely keep eating these cheese sticks because they are so ooey-gooey delish!! My favorite time to make this is as an appetizer for any type of Italian dinner recipe I am cooking up, like my eggplant parmesan)!
Recipe Below
This recipe can feed about four-six people, depends on how many sticks your guest can eat though. :)
Servings: 6
Time cook: 1 hour
Ingredients
1 16oz mozzarella cheese block
1/2 cup of marinara sauce
panko bread crumbs
2 tablespoons italian seasonings
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
Oil for frying, peanut preferred
Fresh parsley to garnish
1/4 cup parmesan to garnish
Directions: In a bowl whisk buttermilk and eggs together. In another bowl put the panko crumbs, Italian seasonings, and garlic powder. For the mozzarella sticks start cutting them short ways on the mozzarella block and either cut the 1/3 inch strips in half to make normal size, if you want larger keep them in the current mold. Once mozzarella sticks are cut dip into egg bath, then panko, and repeat. Place covered mozzarella sticks on parchment paper. Once they are done they need to go in the freezer for about 20 minutes.
Once 20 minutes are up, pull out and heat frying pan, max should be 375°. Put about 3-4 slices in the fryer for about 2-3 minutes, until golden brown. Remove and sprinkle salt. Heat the oven up to 350° and bake the cooked cheese sticks for about 5-8 minutes to make sure the cheese is nice and melted inside. Once done pull out and garnish with parsley and parmesan and dip into marinara sauce.
